steve mcnair dead

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, steve mcnair deadwhose most noted drive was the final one of the 2000 Super Bowl, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head Saturday afternoon in a downtown condominium. Police said a woman was also shot dead.

McNair was 36 and played 13 seasons before retiring in April 2008. Police spokesman Don Aaron said officials tentatively identified the woman, but did not release her name. He confirmed she wasn't McNair's wife, Mechelle.

He said authorities were still investigating the shootings and that no suspects were in custody.

blue ash fireworks 2009

blue ash fireworks 2009 Three generations of Herzogs joined a scattering of residents along Beechmont Avenue just before 10 a.m. The brass notes of "My Country Tis of Thee" played faintly around the corner. They'd stood in the same spot, in front of LaRosa's, each of the last 30 years, said Cassie Herzog. This year's celebration was especially meaningful to the family. Herzog has a nephew fighting in Iraq. "It means a lot to see the support," she said. North in Lebanon, Warren County residents celebrated the dedication of a new 311-acre park on State Route 741. Formerly owned by Armco Steel employees, Armco Park recently became part of the Warren County Park District. This year's Fourth celebration marked the first of what is expected to be an annual event. Parachuters dragging American flags landed in an open field to kick off the dedication ceremony. An Abraham Lincoln impersonator stood by, hand over heart, for the Pledge of Allegiance. Father and son, Cecil and Mike Lumley, and brother-in-law Buck Rudduck, of Morrow, brought a sampling of their 40-tractor collection to the festival. They represent the Fort Ancient Restored Machinery Club, founded in Waynesville more than 20 years ago. To Mike Lumley, the tractor display is as American as it gets. "To me, if it wasn't for the farmer, there wouldn't be any America," he said. "They've got the spirit. If something didn't work, they did whatever they could to make it work." For some, the Fourth of July provided opportunity to promote a cause. Many gathered at the North Presbyterian Church in Northside to dine on blueberry pancakes and raise money for Churches Active in Northside. Pastor Erwin Goedicke called the organization 'an integral part of community development in this neighborhood." (3 of 3) Darleen Adkins awoke early in the morning to fire up the griddle. "I'm seeing the community spirit right here in Northside, good friends and people helping one another," said the Northside resident and veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. "July 4th is the day we can honor that spirit." At the corner of Hamilton and Westmoreland Avenue, the Hamilton family welcomed parade attendees into their yard to purchase hot dogs, snow cones and popcorn. Katie Hamilton, a junior at Webster University in St. Louis, raised money for college. Her cousins hoped to raise enough for an 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. in the fall. Their grandmother, Adele Hamilton, shared memories of her deceased husband, who staked his claim in front of the house on many Fourths of July long before the family bought it in 1998. This year, the Hamiltons have much to celebrate. The 101-year-old home recently earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. • Photos: Liberty Township parade • Photos: Fort Thomas parade • Photos: City of Mason party • Photos: Balloon Glow and fireworks at Coney Island • Photos: Northside's Rockin' 4th • Photos: Mt. hot dog eating contest 2009 results

Wolfing down an incredible 68 hot dogs, Joey Chestnut defeated Japan's Takeru Kobayashi at the 2009 edition of the Fourth of July Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.Joey Chestnut Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest
It was the third consecutive victory for Chestnut, and Kobayashi, the six-time champion, once again finished in second place. Last year, Chestnut and Kobayashi tied at 59 dogs in the 10-minute regulation time, and then Chestnut won in overtime. This year Kobayashi improved, eating 64 dogs, but he didn't improve as much as Chestnut did.
Chestnut, ever the perfectionist, said afterward that he wished he had done even better. Chestnut believed he could have eaten as many as 70 hot dogs if everything had gone right, but that he felt the buns were going down slowly this Fourth of July. But even if Chestnut wasn't satisfied, everyone watching must have been. This was a great athletic performance.

steve mcnair dead

Former Tennessee Titans Quarterback Steve McNair has been killed in what early reports state may be a murder-suicide. A female victim was also found with McNair in downtown Nashville.

McNair announced his retirement from the NFL in April 2008 after playing 13 seasons.

McNair was 36.

Steve McNair was dead. He shot and killed by someone. Steve McNair was an American football quarterback in the National Football League. He was born on February 14, 1973 in Mount Olive, Mississippi U.S. he was dead on July 4, 2009 in 36 years of old, so young for Football Player. Actually I don't know the motif of the killer. Perhaps just Steve and the killer know what the reason is.

Salk's vaccine was composed of "killed" polio virus, which retained the ability to immunize without running the risk of infecting the patient. A few years later, a vaccine made from live polio virus was developed, which could be administered orally, while Salk's vaccine required injection. Further, there was some evidence that the "killed" vaccine failed to completely immunize the patient. In the U.S., public health authorities elected to distribute the "live" oral vaccine instead of Salk's. Tragically, the preparation of live virus infected some patients with the disease, rather than immunizing them. Since the introduction of the original vaccine, the few new cases of polio reported in the United States were probably caused by the "live" vaccine which was intended to prevent them.
Jonas Salk M.D.Physician and Research Scientist
1914 - 1995
It is courage based on confidence, not daring, and it is confidence based on experience.
—Jonas Salk
Jonas (Edward) Salk was born on October 28, 1914 in New York City. He is best known for developing the first successful vaccine for polio. He also made significant contributions to our understanding of influenza and other infectious diseases.Salk was the oldest son of a garment industry worker. He helped pay for his education by working after school, and by earning academic scholarships. Salk graduated from New York University School of Medicine in 1938. In 1942, he went to the University of Michigan on a research fellowship and soon advanced to the position of assistant professor of epidemiology (the study of the causes and control of epidemics).Salk began teaching at the University of Pittsburgh in 1947 where he continued his research. In 1953 he announced the development of a trial vaccine for Polio (poliomyelitis). Salk's vaccine was composed of "killed" polio virus, which retained the ability to immunize without the risk of infecting the patient. Mass trials held in 1953 on 1,830,000 children proved the vaccine was safe and effective. He received many honors, including a Congressional gold medal for his "great achievement in the field of medicine."Salk established the Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla (pronounced "la hoya") California in 1963. He left his position at University of Pittsburgh in 1964 to dedicate full-time to his institute, and the study of infectious diseases. He was director of the Salk Institute until his death on June 23, 1995. He was 80 years old.

Michael Jackson Funeral

Michael Jackson Funeral
Speaking at a press conference, L.A. City Councilwoman Jan Perry called the public memorial -- which takes place next Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Staples Center -- a special event "with the potential to impact public safety." She urged fans to consider watching the service on TV, via a world-wide video feed being made available to the networks.
Tim Leiweke, the president and CEO of sports/entertainment corporation AEG, said 17,500 free tickets are being released to the legions of fans expected in town. Eleven thousand tickets are for the service at L.A.'s Staples Center, while 6,500 more are for seats at the nearby Nokia Theater, where the event is being simulcast.
Leiweke said fans can register for tickets at the Staples Center Web site until 6 p.m. on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, 8,750 people will be chosen at random to receive two tickets each.
Leiweke said no tickets are being sold, and there will not be a funeral procession at the service.

Sarah Palin Resigns as Governor of Alaska

Sarah Palin Resigns as Governor of Alaska

WASILLA, Alaska - Sarah Palin plans to resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, KTUU-TV reported Friday.
Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, made the announcement at her home Friday morning, the station said.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take over at the end of the month, KTUU reported.
This raises many questions. Palin says she thinks she can be more effective outside of government. Really? More effective than being Governor? Hell, Mark Sanford was caught with a mistress and is in the midst of a major, public meltdown and he's staying in office. We'll stay on top of this and bring you more information as it happens.

In "Get on the Bus", Spiked told the tale of a group headed to this 1995 Washington, D.C. gathering.

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?: Back with the HD episodes, before he tries to win the hot dog eating title in the Big Apple tomorrow, Joey Chestnut's here to try and win a lot more money than what he could win by eating the hot dogs! After he demonstrates his hot dog eating skills to the class and the studio, he selects Jenna as his first partner and here are the categories:

1st Grade Spelling
1st Grade English
2nd Grade Vocabulary
2nd Grade Life Science
3rd Grade Astronomy
3rd Grade Animal Science
4th Grade Health
4th Grade U.S. History
5th Grade Social Studies
5th Grade Math

His first category is Spelling.

Spell the name of the following U.S. state- Iowa.

He spells it correctly to get on the board. He then clears off the 1st Grade row with English.

When reciting the alphabet, how many vowels come before the letter P?

He locks in four, which is correct. After making Bryce his second classmate, his third topic is 3rd Grade Astronomy.

If Kassidy goes outside and sees a "blue moon", what phase of the moon would she see?

He's pretty sure and right that's it's a full moon. 2nd Grade Life Science is his $10,000 subject:

T or F: Human beings are members of the animal kingdom.

He Peeks at Bryce's answer, which is False. He instead locks in True as a precaution...good, because True is right. To reach the $25,000 mark, he has to get past a question from 2nd Grade Vocabulary. Kassidy's his third classmate.

By definition, the word "auditory" refers to which human sense?

A: Sight
B: Taste
C: Hearing

He wastes no time locking in hearing for $25,000! He'll try to double that with a question from 3rd Grade Animal Science. This is the second Field Trip question of the season from Dr. Tyler Lyson of the National Geographic Channel:

The T. Rex was one of the most ferocious dinosaurs. What word does the "T" stand for in T. Rex?

He nails Tyrannosaurus for $50,000! After brining Jonathan to the main student podium, his next category is 5th Grade Math.

What is the least common multiple of 6 and 10?

His guess is 30...correct for $100,000! He then gets to eat some pulled pork for 30 seconds just before the next commercial break! After the break, his next chosen topic is 4th Grade Health:

Who pioneered the concept of vaccinations with his research into preventing Smallpox?

A: Jonas Salk
B: Edward Jenner
C: Charles Drew

He agrees with me on Salk...but we're both wrong! It was Jenner, which was said by Bryce, Kassidy, Jenna...but not Jonathan, as he said Charles Drew. That sends him home with $25,000.

Single mother Veronica Lach then becomes a TOTAL FLUNK OUT when she misses this 3rd Grade Math question while also trying to reach the $25K mark:

Francesca has five shelves in her room. If she puts six dolls on each of the first four shelves and three dolls on the last shelf, what's the total number of dolls on all the shelves?jonas salk

VIDEO! Watch video of Jermaine Jackson’s Today Show Interview. Jermaine Jackson gives Today Show his first major interview since the passing of his brother.
Jermaine says of missing his younger brother that he wishes it was him, and not Michael, that left.
A public memorial for Jackson is set for next week at Staples Center in Los Angeles as first broke to you yesterday by LALATE. But funeral arrangements for Jackson, currently at Forest Lawn Mortuary, have yet to be announced by the family.

jermaine jackson on today show

jermaine jackson on today s“She was crying, saying he was dead. And Matt, to hear my mother say, ‘Michael is dead,’ to feel and hear the tone in her voice to say her child is dead, is nothing that anyone can ever imagine.”
Katherine Jackson was already at the hospital when Jermaine arrived. “I tried to console her,” he told Lauer, “but I wanted to see Michael and I wanted to see my brother. To see him there lifeless and breathless was very emotional for me. But I held myself together because I knew he’s very much alive in his spirit, and that was just a shell. But I kissed him on his forehead, and I hugged him, and I touched him and I said, ‘Michael, I’ll never leave you. You’ll never leave me.’
“He went too soon,” the singer’s big brother added. “I wish that it was me. I’ve always felt that I was his backbone, someone to be there for him. I was there and he was sort of like Moses. The things he couldn’t say, I would say them.”
The children’s viewingA therapist at the hospital advised that it would be best if Michael Jackson’s three children —Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II, nicknamed Blanket — saw their father so they could understand that he really was gone and begin the grieving process.
“I know it’s tough, but I think it was the best thing to do. At first I was against it, but what do you say if you don’t show them?” Jermaine Jackson told Lauer.
Details of the autopsy report that have been published in the media agree that Jackson weighed a mere 112 pounds at his death. Partially digested pills were found in his stomach, and he had needle marks on his hips and shoulders.
But Jermaine Jackson insisted that his brother was in good physical shape as he prepared for a 50-show concert stand in London. There has been rampant speculation that the singer was in no condition to take on the rigors of the show.
“I do believe and I do know that Mike is very strong, not just mentally but physically. He’s a dancer, he never stopped dancing, he was already ready physically. He passed the physical, he was strong; he was ready.”
Lauer asked Jermaine what his reaction would be if reports of his brother’s drug use turned out to be true.how

A photo of a dying Michael Jackson lying on a stretcher is the cover image on the latest edition of OK! Magazine, and is certain to elicit strong, mixed reactions.
The race is on to break the latest news on what may be the biggest celebrity gossip story ever, but do we really need to see "the last photos" of the pop icon?
OK! allegedly paid $500,000 for the cover picture you see below.
While covering Jackson's tragic death is unavoidable, would a tribute such as the commemorative covers released by Entertainment Weekly be more appropriate?
On the flip side, do you want to see all the details because you are interested in the story, even if the images of the dying Jackson happen to be upsetting?
What do you think of the picture on OK's "tribute" issue below? Is it disrespectful to Michael Jackson or are they just reporting the news? Tell us in our poll:

Google
